Description

The house was known as “The Old Inn” from 1557 to 1917.  It was originally built during the 12th and 13th centuries, renovated during the 14th and 15th centuries and finally entirely modernized in 2010.  This old private town house with its Renaissance facade offers its guests modern comfort and luxury in century old surroundings.

You can access the house by walking through a small alley and entering through the rather imposing entrance gate

A stone spiral staircase leads each guest to four private luxury suites, one on each floor.

A hidden panoramic terrace overlooking L’Isle sur la Sorgue and its vicinities awaits you at the top of the staircase. Each evening at sunset a magical display of colours is set forth before your eyes…

For your enjoyment the Jacuzzi on the terrace is at your disposal or the heated current swimming pool on the ground floor.  For the real nature lovers a refreshing dip in the Sorgue River (14 degrees!) at the foot of the guesthouse is always possible.

The Southern façade of the house is bordered by the Arquet, a branch of the Sorgue River, which gives the house an enjoyable coolness during the summer.

The courtyard

A hundred year old olive tree stands at the center of this beautiful stone paved courtyard surrounded by vegetation and aromatic plants. A fountain lined with jasmine, two large camellias, two cypresses, hydrangeas and a Karl Springer round stone table welcomes you for breakfast when it suits you.

By the river banks, on the footbridge

Enjoy a quiet pause on the footbridge located between the dinning room and the kitchen to contemplate the Arquet creek (branch of the Sorgue river), the view being a living work of art in and of itself. Watch the wild ducks entertain you during breakfast as you sit at the bistro table over looking the stream.

The pool

Heated both in summer and winter, it is partially covered; two thirds is an indoor pool and the remaining third a heated open-air pool. The counter- current swimming pool (9 X 3 meters) has been designed to allow guests to swim in place and do water aerobics or to relax after a long day of sight-seeing in the Provence region.

Further away, under a veranda is the oversized Jacuzzi. Enjoy moments of deep relaxation in this oversized, heated Jacuzzi under an open veranda on the roof top terrace.

The second terrace is above the tower and is used as a solarium. It is accessible by a narrow ladder called in French an “échelle meunière” (a typical steep ladder with open-backed treads). From there you can admire the panoramic view:

To the North: the Dentelles de Montmirail and the Mont Ventoux
