Location

A 5 minute drive from Avignon, a European center for arts and culture, and a city with a variety of restaurants, cinemas and shops. Avignon is well served by a network of highways, trains (TGV) and several airports (Avignon, Nîmes, and Marseille). Following a day of touring the city, villages or markets, you will enjoy cooling off in the large HEATED swimming-pool (14 m x 7 m), relaxing in the garden or park, or simply enjoying a siesta on one of the covered terraces.

Description

Built during the 14th Century, the property once served as a château for bishops awaiting audience with the popes of Avignon. Tastefully restored during the 19th Century, the château was returned to its original splendor, but with newly added modern conveniences of 10 bedrooms, each air conditioned and with ensuite bath. One can delight in the charm and warmth of its glorious past while enjoying the high standards of a luxury hotel.

This 650 m2 villa sleeps 20 people.

Ground floor

On the ground floor of the château is a spacious vaulted living room with a fireplace and plenty of comfortable seating. Off the living room is a cosy library corner.

A fully-equipped Provençal kitchen with all appliances, plenty of prep space and a large dining table. A separate dining room leads to a covered outdoor dining area and beyond, a large open patio.

There is also a powder room and laundry room on this floor.

Ground Floor - 1 Bedroom

First Floor - 5 Bedrooms + 1 nanny’s Room

Each room has a king size bed or can be made up with twin beds on request. Two of the rooms have a view of the park. All ensuites are equipped with a shower and 2 rooms also have a bathtub.

There is an extra room furnished with a double bed and can be used as a child’s or nanny's bedroom. There is A/C, small bathroom with shower and basin. TV and small kitchen.

EAST WING: 2nd Floor - 4 Bedrooms

Each bedroom has a king size bed ( or twin on request ) and 2 have views from the bedroom and bathroom of the Rhône River. All ensuites are equipped with a shower and 2 rooms also have a bathtub.

Château d’Avignon is equipped with a washer and dryer, iron, satellite TV, high speed Internet access throughout, stereo system, hair dryers, and a safe in each room. No smoking is permitted in the bedrooms. BBQ. Garden furniture.
