Dutchess County Home

Dutchess County Home

United States, New York, Dutchess County ~ 7 Bedrooms ~ 5 Bathrooms ~ Sleeps 10 to 14

The Classic Upstate NY Country Estate

A one km drive through the woods, past on old 1700s barn and pond and up to the main house, this home was originally an inn built in the 1700s and reputed to have had George Washington as a guest. A 29 acre estate with pool and multiple entertaining areas and a large country kitchen, the house is an expansive and unique home that provides the ultimate upstate New York living, with the Culinary Institute of America a ten minute drive away as well as picturesque Rhinebeck with its many high end restaurants.

For those looking for an upstate/dutchess county getaway for the family, just two hours drive or train from New York City, this is a truly unique gem of a property. The long drive through the woods to get to the house provides the privacy and romantic setting that is quite unique and is a tremendous experience, no matter what the season!

The 7 bedroom, 5 bath, 10,000 sq. ft. property is a piece of American history, with a hand-chiseled triple height barn and numerous old fireplaces, yet has been modernized to have the amenities and comforts of a 21st century home.

In the house, the entertainment space is second to none. Enter to a vast open floor main reception space lit by delicate chandeliers. The delightfully furnished room has a fireplace, piano, and dining area with a long wooden table that can seat 10.

Off this area is an antique barroom and a large comfortable TV room with 70'' flatscreen. You'll also find a winter sitting room with floor to ceiling bookshelves and a large 1700s fireplace. The antique formal dining room has a fireplace and a preserved small bar area, dating back from when the property was an inn. A third dining space can be found off the kitchen, perfect for breakfast for a casual lunch indoors. The kitchen has two large sinks, one which is inlaid into a center island that provides drawer storage and plenty of space for food prep.

The master bedroom has a king bed, fireplace, adjoining sitting area, and a marbled master bath. Two of the additional bedrooms have king beds, three rooms have queen beds, and the last bedroom contains a twin bed.

Head outside to the covered BBQ that overlooks the heated pool and barn, a picture-perfect setting for family and friends gatherings. In addition to the BBQ grill, this patio area includes a dining table, lots of counter space, a sink, and a small fridge. There are several reclining lounging chairs surrounding the pool deck, creating the perfect oasis for relaxing and rejuvenating.

The 1,000 square foot blue stone terrace set down by the pond provides a special entertainment space with the backdrop of 50 foot high trees. A wooden bridge connects the furnished terrace to the vast green space on the other side of the pond. A one hundred night-light system also provides for a stunning setting in the garden at night!
