La Rosa dei Venti
Italy, Sicily
11 Bedrooms
6 Bathrooms
Sleeps 6 to 14
A true coastal pearl, La Rosa dei Venti sits above the sea overlooking a private sandy bay (shared only with a handful of other private villas in the area) and boasts views all along the coastline round to the pretty Norman fishing town of Cefalu. The house is charmingly decorated throughout in ‘marine’ style, and the bright waters of the bay can be seen from almost every window. The terraces and gardens offer a variety of locations for outside dining.
You can rent the whole of La Rosa dei Venti, Maestrale or Ponenet on their own or a combination of Maestrale + Ponente or Maestrale + Ponente + Levante. Whatever you choose to do, you will have exclusive run of the grounds.
The Property
Inside: the villa is divided into three separate apartments: Ponente, on the top floor, is entered via a set of steps leading up from the side of the main house onto a blue terrace. An open-plan living area and small kitchen leads to the sleeping area: one double and one twin bedroom (sharing a large sea-facing terrace), one single bedroom, next to the bathroom, and a second terrace, again with extensive sea views (sleeps max. 4). Levante is the lower apartment, closest to the sea. It has a large living area and open kitchen. To the left of the living area are two bedrooms, one double with en-suite bathroom and one small bedroom with a cot.
Both have sea views and there is a second bathroom across the corridor from the smaller room. Towards the back of the house are two more bedrooms (one single and one twin, with en-suite bathroom) looking out onto the green lawn area (sleeps max. 4). Maestrale is the master apartment accessed and is slightly more luxurious in facilities and comfort. French doors lead onto large terraces at every turn giving the impression of cruising at sea!
This apartment can sleep 6 (one double en-suite, one twin and two singles, sharing a bathroom ). The fully equipped kitchen connects with both the dining room and the large, spacious living room, complete with fireplace and sea views.
Outside: the numerous outdoor terraces and lounging areas, varying from small private bedroom terraces to large outdoor eating areas, offer a perfect outdoor living experience, while the sea views will keep you transfixed…To the west side of the property the terrace extends onto a lawned garden dotted with palm trees. Paths lead down to the sheltered sandy bay below.
The Area
The house is 10 min drive from the old centre of Cefalu' with its Norman Cathedral commissioned by Roger II, shops, restaurants and long sandy beach. Its central position on the Tyrrhenian coast makes for easy day trips to Palermo (58km), Santo Stefano (35km), Solunto (55km). Cefalù is nestled beneath the Madonie Mountains, with peaks up to nearly 2,000m and a wealth of small villages with a history almost as long as that of Sicily.
Cefalù is on the main train line linking Palermo with Messina, and from mid June to mid September is connected with the Aeolian Islands by a daily hydrofoil service.
