Villa Al Boschiglia
Italy, Tuscany, Lucca Area 6 Bedrooms 6 Bathrooms Sleeps 12
Built around the middle of the 17th century, close to the antique parish of Vorno, resides the picturesque Villa al Boschiglia, just outside the medieval town of Lucca. Enclosed by a protective wall of stone, the Villa embodies the essence of Lucca's austere architecture with a double flight stairway to the entrance of the noble floor above a door to the country floor below. The symmetrical arrangement of the rooms around the central salon pays homage to the easy and elegant lifestyle of those days. When arriving from town, one is embraced and overwhelmed by the gentle colours and sharp fragrances of the surrounding countryside. When one arrives at the gate the "tall and pure" cypresses laid out in a double row along the entrance avenue, seem to invite the guest with the warmest of welcomes. The wide park of lime trees, oaks, olives and magnolias, with large bushes of aromatic plants and roses is the ideal background for the Roman-style swimming pool complemented by a romantic pergola of Bouganvillas. In this atmosphere, culture and art are matched together. The charm of this lovely Villa is celebrated by its many guests who remain fascinated by the character of this beautiful corner of Tuscany.
