IL Cardinale

IL Cardinale

Italy, Veneto ~ 8 Bedrooms ~ 7 Bathrooms ~ Sleeps 10 to 13

Il Cardinale was built in 1696 by the grandson of Alessandro VIII who was a famous Cardinal. The Estate has had several owners over the centures.  The present owners have decided to offer it for rent to select clients a few week of the year.  Their wish is to have guests who will come for a holiday, relax, enjoy their stay, appreciate the beauty of the villa the magical surroundings.

The villa is situated on a hill with a magnificent panoramic view of the Medieval city of Asolo. From here you can enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding plains, where on a clear day you can see the Euganei hills and Venice.

The villa is protected by an ancient wall made of stones and bricks and is surrounded by a large park.

Il Cardinale is created of 4 main buildings : the main villa, the chapel that was the most ancient sanctuary made for honoring the Virgin Mary and two wings : the venetian barchesse originally  the barns and stables that have now been built into residences.

The first floor has its own entrance, a large bright living room in the middle of two large double bed rooms with private bathroom and a studio

The second floor - corridor, a master suite with private bathroom, two single rooms, one bathroom, one bedroom with a king size bed, a bedroom with two single beds and a private bathroom.

The Beretta is a pretty little apartment next to the villa with private entrance. Inside it has a living room, a double bedroom, a bathroom and a kitchen.

THE CARDINAL’S HAT: The beauty of the villa is brought to life by its unique architecture and precious decorations. The symbol of the villa is the Cardinal’s galero hat which stands on the top of the iron main entrance gates of the villa.

Another unique beauty of the villa are the “stucchi”- the beauty of the walls and ceilings  in the most sophisticated late Baroque movements. These precious decorations seem to embroider the walls and ceilings.

The property is surrounded by green including many typical trees such as cypresses, olive trees, many fragrant flowers especially the beautiful and ancient climbing roses.

There are two lounging areas, one near the rose garden path and the other outside the front villa.

On the east side of the Villa there is a large panoramic terrace near the Chapel, covered by an ancient wisteria where you can eat while enjoying a unique view on the hills of Asolo.

On the top floor there is another lounging area on a terrace in front of the main entrance. Beside the terrace there is a studio room where one can relax having peace and quiet.

Through a path surrounded by fruit trees and olive trees we reach the panoramic swimming pool equipped with sun beds and changing room.
